Quick Update on the Large Lot Ordinance

The Matanuska Susitna Borough Assembly voted down the Large Lot Ordinance (25-090) at the November 18 meeting. This means no new large-lot zoning tool, no 5 acre minimums, and no process allowing a small group of neighbors to restrict future subdivision on someone else’s land.

The Planning Commission had already opposed it, and after public testimony and Assembly debate, the ordinance failed. For now, nothing changes in borough code.

This is a win for property rights, future housing affordability, and responsible development in the Mat Su.
